The Best Chocolate Chip Zucchinni Bread

When we came across this tasty Paula Deen zucchini bread recipe on the Food Network, we just had to try it. And, boy are we glad we did. This yummy chocolate chip zucchini bread is definitely a change from traditional recipes; its refreshing and perfect for the summer. One other thing we really like about it is that it’s fast and easy to make.

Paula Dean Zuchinni Bread

Here’s what you’ll need:

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 3  cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup of semi-sweetened chocolate chips

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups grated zucchini
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract


Here’s how to make it:

First things first, turn up the heat: preheat your oven to 350 Degrees F. Next, combine all of your dry ingredients in a bowl. Sift together the flour, spices, baking powder and salt. Next, in a separate bowl mix together all of your wet ingredients. Start by beating eggs until light and fluffy. The best way to mix these is on a low setting using a mixer like a KitchenAid. Then add in the oil, vanilla, zuchinni and orange zest. At this point you can also add your pecans and semi-sweetened chocolate chips. Once you have mixed wet and dry, incorporate all ingredients together . You can pour the batter into a 4 loaf pan like we did and bake for 45 minutes to an hour.

When your bread is finished, let it cool, add a little butter (if you’d like), serve and enjoy!
