We are entering the thick of the winter. The storms are brewing, snow is falling and so are the temperatures. The holidays are over so the post holiday blues are seemingly kicking in. It may not be that warm and energetic part of the year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t add a little brightness into our day. For this reason, we love the lemon whiskey sour. It’s citrusy, sour taste courtesy of fresh Meyer lemons has got us smiling cheek to cheek. Oh and, did we mention that cherries are involved as well?
This Meyer Lemon Whiskey Sour was inspired by the folks at thekitchn.com. Here’s what you’ll need to stir up this “happy” cocktail:
- 1-1/2 ounces of whiskey
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon
- 1/4 simple syrup
- fresh cherries or maraschino cherry for garnish
Take all of your ingredients minus the ice and cherries and shake in a chilled cocktail shaker. Next, strain the cocktail into a tumbler with ice. We then garnished our whiskey sour with fresh cranberries.
We love the look of this cocktail. It is bright and sophisticated, so we served it up in our clear Chelsea tumbler. The clarity of the glass allows you to see the beautiful citrus color, and the hatched pattern gives it that cool Madmen look. Cheers!
