Cranberry Ginger Fizz Cocktail

Tis’ the season for entertaining, which means that food and libations are in order. This delicious cranberry and ginger beer cocktail, inspired by Creative Culinary will have your guests heads spinning (literally and figuratively).  Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3/4 cups of sugar
  • 3/4 cups of water
  • 1 cup of fresh cranberries
  • 1 lemon (cut into wedges)
  • 1 half orange (sliced)
  • 1-1/2 cups of your favorite gin
  • 1 cup ginger ale or beer
  • 4 mint springs


First, we’ll want to start with our simple syrup base. In a sauce pan bring 3/4 cups of water to a boil. Once the water starts to boil, introduce your sugar and let it simmer till the sugar is completely dissolved.

Next, bring your simple syrup to a boil and add the cranberries. Bring your mixture to a medium heat and allow for the cranberries to start bursting. This is when you’ll know your cranberry syrup is done.


You’ll then want to drain the cranberries and add 2 tablespoons of them in a dish. Then add 6 tablespoons of the cranberry syrup along with the lemon wedges and the orange slices. Muddle them with a muddle or a wooden spoon. Don’t be afraid to use some fervor when mashing!


When you are done muddling strain the juices into a pitcher and add gin to it. You’ll want your mixture to steep a little. While you wait, fill 3-4 glasses with crushed ice and a 1/4 cup of ginger beer.

Pour a little bit of your cranberry mixture along with some ice in a cocktail shaker and shake, shake, shake. Repeat for the remaining glasses. You can garnish your glasses with a sprig of mint and a few fresh cranberries.
