We have seen it on Sex in the City and virtually on every beverage menu. It may seem trite and cliche at this point but given a closer look, this cocktail has some wonderful elements to it. We specifically like the Cosmopolitan now because it uses cranberry flavors which are so appropriate during the holiday season; yet, it has refreshing citrus notes that remind us that spring and summer are up next.
With this Cosmopolitan recipe we were inspired by Jamie Oliver’s Drink Tube.
Here’s what you will need:
- 1-1/2 parts vodka (you may choose to use an orange flavored one)
- 1/2 parts orange liqueur like Cointreau
- 1 parts cranberry
- 1/4 part fresh lime juice
- Ice and orange zest for garnish
First, chill your glass. Next, take all of the ingredients mentioned above (except for the orange zest) and combine them into a shaker. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Then strain and pour into your chilled glass. For the orange zest, carefully peel a piece of an orange skin and add to your glass.
We served up our Cosmo in an non traditional glass. The idea behind this is, is that you don’t always have to go with the expected. Sometimes a popular cocktail will look and taste just as good in your favorite cocktail glass. We chose to use our Mon Paris wine goblet. It’s a Parisian style bistro goblet hence the “a la Paris”. Cheers!
