We are really crazy about this weeks cherry lemon whiskey cocktail. Dubbed the Colorado Cooler, this cocktail recipe was inspired by the folks at Food & Wine. Whether you are a whiskey drinker or not the combination of lemon and cherries with whiskey will put its taste in a new light.
We had the hardest time finding cherries at our local market as they really aren’t in season during the winter months. The ones at our local store are imported from Chile during these cold months, but regardless with think this still makes a wonderful winter cocktail. Plus its quick and easy to make. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 ounce chilled club soda
- 3/4 ounces lemon juice
- 3/4 ounces simple syrup
- 2 ounces whiskey
- 5 pitted cherries – 1 for garnish and 4 for mashing
First, you’ll want to take 4 off your cherries and muddle them in a cocktail shaker. Then introduce all remaining ingredients into the shaker except for the club soda. Shake really well and then strain into your glass. Finally, add your club soda to the cocktail and voila!
We chose to serve our Colorado Cooler in our Chelsea DOF tumbler. We love that “madmen” look of this glass and it works so well with the rich red color of the cherries.
