Candy canes are a must have holiday staple, so we thought we’d mix up one more cocktail with this beloved candy choice. This candy cane martini was inspired by Martha Stewart’s Candy Cane Martini recipe, and what a yummy cocktail it is!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- crushed candy canes or candy cane candy
- 2 ounces of strawberry vodka
- 4 dashes of creme de menthe
- 2-1/2 ounces of cranberry juice
- ice cubes
First, you’ll want to crush about two candy canes for your glass rim. We placed our candy canes in a ziplock bag and covered it with a piece of cloth to avoid puncturing the plastic. You can then use a rolling pin or the untextured side of a meat tenderizer to crust the candy.
You can either wet the glass rim with water or with a little bit of the creme de menthe. Then roll the rim of your glass in the candy cane powder. Your glass is now ready!
Next, in a cocktail shaker combine the vodka, creme de menthe, cranberry juice and ice and shake well. The strain and pour into your candy cane rimmed glass. Finally add a candy can for garnish. We used our Colada cocktail glasses for a less traditional martini, but we find these glasses to be simple, elegant and modern just like a martini glass. Plus, we love the stemless look. Cheers!
